HPV throat cancer can develop in men and women. However, the HPV-16 strain tends to  evolve into cervical cancer in women and throat cancer in men. Studies show the largest increase in HPV throat cases is in men and that’s why the CDC’s recommendation to administer the Gardasil vaccine to boys to prevent HPV-16 infection is so important.
